Check Out for Ranking Changes as Google’s Page Experience Update is Complete

Whenever there is a Google ranking update, website owners need to carefully analyse its impact on the site’s ranking. There could be ranking improvements as well as ranking losses, after a Google update.

Recently, Google has completely rolled out its page experience update for both mobile and desktop. Mobile update was rolled out a month back, while the desktop update was completely rolled out by 3 March 2022.

Any significant change you might see on your desktop rankings could be the result of the page experience update.

Check for any impact

There are many tools available to check if your website has been impacted by the Google’s page experience update. The first and foremost tool is Google Search Console.

In Google Search Console, you have a section on Experience and there you can find reports on how the page experience of your website affects your rankings.

The core web vitals part of the report will give you an idea about the page experience of the different pages of your website.

If you see a lot of your web pages in red or yellow, then any rank drop happening to your website could be that of the page experience update of Google.

If there are indeed a lot of pages that are in red and yellow, then you must check the options individually.

Factors that could affect your page experience

Absence of https – If you haven’t still moved your website to a secure https protocol, then this is the time. Move your website to https as it is one of the most important aspects of page experience.

Presence of intrusive ads – If your website has ads that intrude your website’s seamless viewing, then your website probably has poor page experience.

Core web vitals – In the Search Console, Google has the details of core web vitals, based on actual data from your website. You can use this report to find which all pages in your website need further optimization to satisfy the page experience index of Google.

There are many Chrome extensions that help you find out the core web vitals details of your web pages.
