Select a name that’s easy to type – Your domain name must be easy to type for your customers. If you are using an abbreviation in the place of a word, like ‘s’ in the place of ‘yes’, then it would be difficult to type for the customer.

Select a name that’s easy to remember – Your domain name must be easy to remember for your customer. Whenever they wish to visit your website, they must easily type the domain name and see your website.

Select a short name – If your domain name is a long one with numerous characters, it would be difficult for our customers to remember and type in the name. Moreover, longer domain names mean greater probability of typing a wrong name.

Don’t use hyphens and numbers – Never use numbers in your domain name. When you tell someone your domain name, he/she will get confused if you are using the numeral (4) or the textual (four) number.

Also, hyphens were used earlier when you had your important keywords in your domain name. Hyphens were used to separate two words in your domain name. It is no longer relevant for search engines.

Keywords in domain names – Adding keywords in your domain can help search engines understand what your website is about. Customers can also identify your business if you have keywords in your domain name.

At the same time, it is not critical to have the keywords in your domain name. Even without it, search engines can identify what your business is all about from the website.
